Factors Contributing to the Success of Information Security Management: A
Descriptive Analysis

Abstract

Information Security Management (ISM) concerns protecting the confidentiality, integrity
and availability of the organisation’s information from unauthorised access. Many
organisations have devoted extensive efforts to managing the security of their
information by streamlining organisational structures, information security policy,
processes, and procedures. Despite of the efforts, security incidents continue to happen
in organisations due to ineffective ISM implementation. This event shows that the
organisations do not conscious of the factors contributing to the success of ISM.
Therefore, the objective of this paper is to identify ISM success factors through a
survey. The result of the survey indicates that there are several factors contribute to the
success of ISM.
