Abstract
This study examines the key factors in enabling the use of personal ICT devices in
schools for learning purposes. We conducted data collection by disseminating
questionnaires and organizing interviews. A total of 204 teachers from five schools were
involved in the survey. The participated schools were situated in the province of
Putrajaya and Dengkil. Principals, senior assistants, ICT teachers and ICT technicians
were the interviewees. The quantitative data obtained from the questionnaires were
analyzed using SPSS statistical software. Two types of quantitative data analysis were
considered namely the general profile of respondents and descriptive statistical
analysis. From this study, our findings recommend relevant factors of execution of Bring
Your Own Device (BYOD) at the schools. These security factors are essential for the
schools pre-, during and post-adoption of BYOD which include cost allocation for
securing the network, preparation of content filtering and controls and training to support
the implementation of BYOD at schools.
